Framing

Framing is done by a professional framer in the Toronto area that Julie has personally searched and vetted through the quality of his work. He has been working with Julie and a few other artists for many years.

The framing is one of the most important parts of work, Julie keeps her frames simple as not to distract from the art but instead to add to it. All watercolour portraits are matted in an archival acid free mat to prevent yellowing, original watercolours are placed on top of the bottom mat to show the edge of the painting, this technique is called floating. In most cases we add a V-groove which can add another accent. Julie uses white mats only but this is her preference. All watercolours will be under glass to preserve them.

Framing is only available when a painting is purchased through Julie.

Here are a few examples of the frames Julie uses, they come in 3/4″ or 1/2″ widths, which are usually decided upon by size of paintings. The profile or depth of frame can be flat or 1 1/4 inch deep.

All frames are wood and have a satin finish.
